Broken Bird 03:36
I found you bruised and battered I tended to your wounds You took from me what mattered And left my heart in ruins Oooh, I could have left you there in disrepair like a broken bird. I wrapped you in my loving And spoke in gentle tones I prayed that there was nothing As I listened to your moans Oooh behind the shallow sighs and empty eyes was a broken bird Your friends all gave fair warning They had their point of view Now here I sit in mourning There was nothing I could do Oooh I woke at the break of dawn and you were gone There's those that pass uncaring And those that lend a hand My heart is made for sharing And I'd do it all again for a broken bird

Gone 03:57
I once knew a man, seemed kinda old Always lent a hand, a kind and gentle soul I can still see his face He's in a better place Gone but not forgotten, always be remembered I once had a neighbour, we'd always fight Was always complaining, nothing was ever right She trained dogs for the blind Underneath she was kind Gone but not forgotten, always be remembered Sinners and thieves nobody grieves Angels and givers, they're the achievers Their memory lives on long after they're gone Gone but not forgotten, always be remembered I once knew a girl, ripped off all her friends No-one's gonna cry at the end.

My home 04:02
I drove down my old street a few years ago And the trees whispered silently my name The ghosts of neighbours past waved to greet me And the windows blinked and signaled the same As I counted down the numbers I was praying That our house was standing stately as before Cos that home rang free with love and memories From every nail to every open door Ch - You were my home, you were my haven And I don't know what to do now that you're gone You were my home, you were my haven And I don't know what to do to carry on I went into that old house a few years ago Nostalgia called and couldn't be denied I was stopped and standing staring at the memories When a man appeared inviting me inside Oh the bliss of my first kiss kept coming back to me And the first love that cut me like a knife It hardly had changed, never rearranged And channeled the path of my life Chorus I drove past that old house a few weeks ago And I felt that a part of me had died It all looked the same, but past the front frame Everything was gone from inside You were the reason for the road I travelled The rock that formed the world in which I roam Vacant windows are dim, nothing left within And one day I must find another home Chorus (And you don't know what you've got until it's gone)
4.
The Rain 05:28
Standing at the back of the queue again and all alone The prize was nearly in my hand, and now it's gone I was patiently waiting for my love to be home In the warm flush of dawn I'm still alone Ch - What's the story with the rain Washing all my fears Face towards the heave so no-one sees my tears What's the story with the rain Lightning in the sky Waiting for the thunder so no-one hears me cry You know that when the rain comes it washes everything away I need a ray of sunshine to start another day I believe in miracles, I have myself to blame Sending love and making love are really not the same There's a price to be paid for this lousy charade I've been burned, I have learned the hardest way Ch - What's the story with the rain .................

Why do you weep Just go to sleep Why did you roam so far from home Now you've returned bridges are burned Don't ever leave me again You were so wrong Thought you were strong Talent and dreams ripped at the seams Devil told lies Heed the disguise Don't ever leave me again I watch the leaves as they drift on the breeze Warm turns to cold as the seasons unfold Heard not a word as the devil took hold And I worry You know that my love is true / Bathe in the warmth of my love I gave you love baby I gave you life I kept you safe baby free from the strife My life's complete My love runs deep Play all your songs for me Don't ever leave me again
6.
Sunshine 04:20
I can't sleep at night Wondering if you're alright What ya doin? My toast is buttered and the coffee's brewin' Ch I can't wait for the sun to shine Sit somewhere with your hand in mine Another day hope the sun will shine Cos all I wanna do is spend some time with you Yes I do - sunshine Once the line was drawn Came the eerie dawn Are you lonely? I think of you and I pray for you only Ch Feeling - sunshine Holding - sunshine Touching and loving You're the one that I miss When will we ever kiss? Can't wait for the sun to shine Somewhere in space somewhere in time Can't wait for the sun to shine To light up your face, your beautiful face Sunshine

I can't remember what life would be without you You and me We go together like chalk and cheese. We disagree constantly And we never give up And we never give in That's when the loving begins Ch On and on and on we keep on fighting On and on and on we keep on loving fighting You come from Venus and me from Mars I live in the future, you in the past Your cup's half empty and mine's half full You're really hot, but I'm so cool And we never give up ...... Ch I take the first swing I don't like it when you do your thing It really bores me It annoys me And then you shut me up with an uppercut You hate my politics I hate your cancer sticks Back and forward, Ford and Holden Heating up now, Trump and Biden Now now now -yeah And we never give up..... Ch

Stephen Hearn and I have spent the best part of a year recording this cd. We've played together in 5 bands over the past 30 or so years, and found writing originals very rewarding.
